There are two (2) types of estimates: Binding and Non-Binding
Yes. Essentially there are two (2) types of estimates: Binding and Non-Binding. A non-binding estimate is not binding on the movera and your final moving charges will be based upon the actual weight of your shipment, the services provided, and the tariff provisions in effect. A Non-Binding estimate comes in two (2) flavors: a flat rate or a not to exceed cost. Taken at face value a binding estimate can appear to be a very attractive to consumers. However, a flat-rate or not to exceed Binding Estimate can easily be employed as a scam-tactic to lure consumers with a price guarantee, only to become a bait and switch tactic on moving day. Please read the article "The myth of the movers binding estimate or not to exceed moving cost estimate" for more information on binding estimates. And thank you for your question!
