Customers often have questions regarding the household moving industry-standard "storage vaults" (which are also known as "Storage Pallets")...so what is a mover's storage vault, and how are they utilized? Here's what we know...
The household moving industry utilizes standard household storage vaults, which are (very large) standardized household goods storage containers that have the following dimensions:
- Exterior Dimensions: 84" deep x 60" wide x 89" high
- Interior Dimensions: 82" deep x 58" wide x 83" high
- Each vault has a unique "vault number" painted on it
The customer's household goods are pad-wrapped by the mover and transported to the mover's warehouse, where they are unloaded into the warehouse and loaded into one or more household storage vaults. Once the entire shipment has been loaded into the required storage vaults, each vault door is attached, and a "pallet card" is affixed to each vault. The pallet card shows the following information...
- The customer's name
- Date the vault was loaded
- The total number of vaults
- The name of the foreman who supervised the loading of the vault
- The additional vault numbers of any additional vaults required to store the customer's shipment are shown on the pallet card
Oversized articles that do not fit into a storage vault (such as a kayak, a canoe, or a large sofa) are padded, plastic stretch-wrapped, and finally placed on a special "Sofa Rack" in the warehouse (as shown in the photo below).
